D-Link PowerLine AV500 family launch extends connectivity throughout the home

Mar 21, 2013 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- D-Link has updated its PowerLine family of home networking products. The PowerLine AV500 family enables video streaming, online gaming, browsing and VoIP on multiple devices anywhere in your home simultaneously.

This new range instantly extends the reach of your home network by utilising the existing electrical wiring to expand the network to locations with limited or no connectivity.

D-Link's AV500 range helps meet the growing consumer demand for connectivity, by delivering a high-performance, stable and secure wired or wireless signal throughout the home.

The entire PowerLine AV500 portfolio supports Quality-of-Service (QoS), for the streaming of IPTV and HDTV across the home. Performance is enhanced by delivering speeds of up to 500 Mbps and a 23 per cent improvement in coverage compared to standard PowerLine devices, enabling fast access to streaming content to multiple devices at the same time, even those in the farthest reaches of your home.

Easy installation is ensured thanks to a simple Plug-and-Connect system, while green features like low power draw and power saving mode help to reduce energy consumption.

"We're seeing a huge increase in wired and wireless connected devices in just about every room in the house. Whether it's the PC and printer in the study, the extra TV and games console in the bedroom, the connected TV and streaming media box or NAS in the lounge, or even the family PC and connected fridge in the kitchen," said Adrian Edwards, Consumer Solutions Manager at D-Link UK & Ireland. "But network connectivity is far from uniform and customers want an easy-to-install, no-setup-required solution to solve dead zone issues within their home. Our AV500 range is both affordable and provides the needed performance for the demanding applications of today." To ensure every connectivity scenario is covered, the new PowerLine AV500 family thats compliant with the HomePlug AV standard, consists of: AV500 2-Port Mini Adapter (DHP-328AV), AV500 2-Port Adapter Starter Kit (DHP-329AV), AV500 Wireless N Mini Starter Kit (DHP-W311), AV500 Wireless N Mini Extender (DHP-W310), AV500 Mini Adapter (DHP-308AV), AV500 Mini Adapter Starter Kit (DHP-309AV), AV500 Passthrough Mini Adapter (DHP-P308AV) and AV500 Passthrough Mini Adapter Starter Kit (DHP-P309AV).

With its compact design, the PowerLine AV500 Mini Adapter does not block a second electrical outlet and is perfect for locations with limited space.

The dual-port models are perfect for helping meeting the connectivity needs of the growing number of connected hubs springing up throughout the home, while the Passthrough model allows added connectivity without sacrificing a plug socket. The Wireless N Extender allows customers to extend and create a wireless network where it was not possible before.
