D2 Technologies' vPort 4G+ Software to Provide VoLTE for NVIDIA LTE Modems

SANTA BARBARA, CA, Feb 25, 2013 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- D2 Technologies, the market leader in embedded IP communications software platforms, today announced its IR.92 VoLTE software will be used to enable carrier-grade Voice- and SMS-over-LTE capability on the NVIDIA Icera family of LTE multimedia data modem chipsets for mobile devices.

The companies also plan to collaborate on a reference design for RCS, Wi-Fi calling and IR.94 video calls that uses vPort 4G+'s advanced API for IMS features in conjunction with D2's mCUE 4G mobile client software running on NVIDIA's mobile application processors.

"Our collaboration with NVIDIA represents the next step in the commercialization of IMS-based communications in the mobile industry," said Doug Makishima, chief operating officer for D2 Technologies. "The NVIDIA chipset for tablets and handheld devices has been tested and validated for operation on the AT&T(R) 4G LTE network. We are pleased that an industry leader has selected our software platforms to quickly bring to market robust and optimized VoLTE and RCS enabled products." The NVIDIA(R) i500 LTE modem delivers lightning-fast web browsing, video streaming and multiplayer gaming to tablets and clamshell devices. It is the second NVIDIA modem to implement 4G LTE in NVIDIA's software defined radio baseband processor. Together with its multimode radio transceiver, the chipset offers 4G LTE at category 4 data rates (up to 150 Mbps) as well as 4G HSPA+, 3G and 2G compatibility.

"NVIDIA is dedicated to delivering next-generation mobile communication services such as VoLTE and RCS to support operators as they transition legacy voice services to LTE and begin to offer rich communications services via IMS," said Steve Allpress, vice president of mobile communications software at NVIDIA. "Integrating D2's industry-leading IMS software allows us to accelerate delivery of next-generation communication solutions to mobile device OEMs." About mCUE 4G and vPort 4G+ D2 Technologies' mCUE 4G and vPort 4G+ products combine to form the most advanced IMS communications software solution supporting both the IR.92 VoLTE and RCS5/RCS-e GSMA standards to deliver IP communications features like HD voice, real time video call, instant message, media share, VCC and Wi-Fi offload.

As the first IP communications client deployed by a 4G mobile operator, it is a field proven solution and delivers carrier-grade voice and video quality with demonstrated interoperability. mCUE 4G is a complete communications client for the Android OS platform, providing all key layers including the UI, communications middleware, protocol stacks and media engine with optimized video framework integration that supports native hardware video acceleration. vPort 4G+ is a high performance VoLTE/IMS engine for LTE modems and mobile application processors that includes a complete VoIP DSP module with wideband CODECs, IR.92 compliant protocol stack and IMS/RCS API. It provides carrier-grade voice quality and enables very low power consumption and flexible system partitioning.

About D2 Technologies D2 is the recognized leader in VoIP and converged IP communications software for devices used in 4G and next-generation networks that deliver advanced communication services, such as VoIP over LTE (VoLTE) and IMS-based Rich Communications (RCS) and IP video calling.
