Belgium : Belgacom buys world's fastest Internet router from Alcatel-Lucent [TendersInfo (India)]

(TendersInfo (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Growing demand for network capacity Residential customers as well as companies increasingly use video, cloud-based applications, multimedia services, and other applications. People want access to applications and content anytime, anywhere, via their PC, laptop, smartphone and tablet. More and more network capacity is needed to manage and transport all this data traffic. To address this, Belgacom is expanding its broadband network with Alcatel-Lucent's ultra-fast XRS core router (7950 Extensible Routing System). Alcatel-Lucent's 7950 XRS = fastest core router in the world Alcatel-Lucent's 7950 XRS is currently the world's fastest core router. It provides five times the capacity of existing Internet routers, and consumes 66% less power than other IP core routers. In November 2012, this router received the Best New (Telecom) Product award from Light Reading magazine.

With this router, Belgacom will not only significantly improve the connectivity and capacity of its data network, but also make cost savings. Indeed, the XRS router takes up less space and consumes less power. Over a five-year period, Belgacom will be able to save in floor space and power costs.
