Larson Electronics Adds Explosion Proof Extension Cord with 25 Foot Reach

KEMP, Texas, Feb. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Larson Electronics has announced the addition of a 25 foot explosion proof extension cord with wet area suitability to its line of industrial grade electrical equipment. Designed to allow operators to safely and securely increase the range of their equipment and devices with areas deemed hazardous locations, the EPEXC-25 Explosion Proof Extension Cord is ideal for use in areas where flammable gases and vapors may be encountered.

(Photo: http://photos.prnewswire.com/prnh/20130219/DA62048) The Larson Electronics EPEXC-25 explosion proof extension cord is rated for 15 amps continuous use and gives workers in hazardous locations the ability to safely extend the range of their equipment and devices when power outlets are not easily accessible. Designed for durability and performance, this 25 foot long explosion proof extension cord features twenty five feet of oil and abrasion resistant 12/3 SOOW explosion proof cord, a single wet area suited 20 amp receptacle, and a 15 amp 2 pole 2 wire T style explosion proof plug. This extension cord is rated at 15 amps of continuous service and is approved for Class 1 Division 1 and Class 2 Division 1 locations as well as wet areas. The receptacle and plug on this unit are of a twist lock design with the receptacle featuring deep recessed contacts. In order for the receptacle to become energized, the operator must insert a plug and then twist it to lock it into place. This design helps to protect against the creation of arcs during plug insertion and provides a secure connection that resists pullouts. The receptacle is a heavy duty unit that is approved for use in wet areas and includes a protective hinged door to protect the contacts when not in use. This cord is cross compatible with plugs and receptacles from other major brands to provide added versatility, and Larson Electronics also includes an additional explosion proof plug with the cord to give operators the security of knowing they will be able to connect their equipment. These explosion proof extension cords are ideal for workers performing plant turnarounds and tank maintenance or servicing and can be applied to a wide range of applications requiring HAZLOC compliant devices and accessories.

"The EPEXC-25 explosion proof extension cord is designed to mate with standard and Appleton and Crouse Hinds plugs and receptacles," said Rob Bresnahan with LarsonElectronics.com. "In order to maintain compliance within hazardous area locations, operators can use our explosion proof extension cords to extend the cords of hand lamps or other tools to reach existing Class rated outlets safely." Larson Electronics carries an extensive line of explosion proof cords, hazardous location receptacles and plugs, explosion proof switches, and explosion proof equipment accessories.
