Collection Agency Rapid Recovery Solution Comments on Article about Abusive Debt Collection Being on the Rise

Bohemia, NY, Jan 22, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- On January 22, 2013, collection agency Rapid Recovery Solution responds to a recent MPR News article which highlights how abusive debt collection tactics are occurring more frequently.

According to the MPR News article, the state of Minnesota is working hard to lay the issue of abusive collection to rest. The article states, "Attorney General Lori Swanson announced a proposal on [January 14th] to tighten regulations for companies that buy up debt and to protect consumers from abuse. Both advocates and debt collectors appear to support the proposal." The article cites the extreme case of military veteran Jason Christiansen who, following the 2008 financial crisis, was subjected to as many as 60 collection calls per day. The article informs, "The harassing phone calls soon spread to family members and his job, even after he told callers he was not allowed to take personal calls at work.

Collectors repossessed Christiansen's car and garnished his wages." The abusive had been so traumatizing that it caused Christiansen to contemplate suicide, reports MPR News.

The article reveals that Attorney General Lori Swanson announced a bipartisan legislation that "would require collectors to show more proof the amount they're trying to collect is accurate." In addition, collectors would also have to prove that they are tracking the correct debtor.

John Monderine, the CEO of Long Island based collection agency Rapid Recovery Solution, says that the decision to try and stop abusive collection behavior is something that will truly benefit Minnesota consumers. "Unfortunately, the abusive actions of unsavory collectors gives the collection industry a bad name," says Monderine. "Not all collection agencies abuse debtors. Most agencies are simply trying to collect the money that it is owed. I believe this new legislation will help cut down on abusive collection tactics." Founded in 2006, RRS Collection Agency is headquartered at the highest point of beautiful Long Island. Rapid Recovery Collection Agency is committed to recovering your funds. We believe that every debtor has the ability to pay if motivated correctly. We DO NOT alienate the debtors; we attempt to align with them and offer a number of ways to resolve not only your debt but also all their debts.
