M2M Challenge Seeking Top Solutions Nominees

Dec 14, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Supported by the Title Sponsors Swisscom, Ericsson and sponsors Telit Wireless Solutions, VARTA Microbattery, the M2M Challenge innovation competition is seeking top solutions in different fields, including healthcare.

Swisscom, a Swiss telecom provider is offering customers the Limmex Emergency Watch enabling the wearer to set up a phone call to selected people or emergency call center. The Limmex watch is world's first such Emergency Watch, made possible by sub-compact dimensions of the Telit GE865-QUAD GSM/GPRS module.

GlucoTel, the glucose monitoring and management system by BodyTel is another example of how patients can benefit from new health monitoring systems enabled by M2M communication. Vital data is sent via Bluetooth to a home gateway, which sends the data in an SSL encrypted connection to a secure online database. On both the measuring side as well as the cloud, the system guarantees that data will not be hacked or seen without permission.

Concepts for innovative M2M healthcare solutions can be submitted for the "M2M Challenge", the international innovation competition in the field of M2M, through December 31, at m2m-challenge.com. An international panel of experts will evaluate the submissions on criteria including market potential, degree of technological innovation, and novel usage of the "Internet of Things". The winner will receive a cash prize of USD 5,000 and all finalists will get the opportunity to present their solutions to a large audience of international industry and media representatives.
