Canon Honored with Buyers Laboratory LLC Line of the Year Award for Energy Efficiency

LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y. --(Business Wire)--

In recognition of outstanding environmental performance, Canon (News - Alert) U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, today announced the Company's A3 line of multifunction products featuring imageRUNNER and imageRUNNER ADVANCE models has been named the Buyers Laboratory LLC 2013 (BLI) Line of the Year for Energy Efficiency. Buyers Lab, with a database covering over 16,000 products, is the leading independent office-equipment testing lab and business consumer advocate.

To qualify for the award, devices had to achieve energy consumption rates of 35 percent or more below the competitive average. Canon's A3 line of products consistently achieved levels of energy consumption significantly lower than the industry average ranging from 37 to 62 percent below competitor averages. Many of the Canon models tested feature additional energy saving features including toner-save mode, automatic duplexing functionality and the ability to fax or scan documents without having the device completely warmed up.

"Canon is extremely honored to be the recipient of this prestigious award from Buyers Laboratory," said Sam Yoshida, vice president and general manager, Marketing, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon U.S.A. "We are proud to be recognized for providing our customers with high-performance and quality products while at the same time helping to reduce energy consumption."

This is not the first time Canon has positioned itself as an industry leader in providing highly energy-efficient products. Canon has won 18 BLI "Outstanding Achievement" awards for energy efficiency to-date, which is more than any other vendor. For this year, the Canon models tested include imageRUNNER ADVANCE monchrome and color devices ranging from 20 pages per minute to 75 pages per minute.
