Plantronics Honored with a Visionary Award at the WebRTC Conference & Expo

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

Plantronics (News - Alert) (NYSE: PLT) today announced it was recognized at WebRTC Conference & EXPO with a Visionary Award from TMC, a global, integrated media company, Systemwide Media and PKE Consulting. The company recently announced the first headset integration with WebRTC and delivered a keynote presentation at the inaugural WebRTC Conference.

Joe Burton, CTO and SVP of technology, development and strategy, Plantronics and Cary Bran, Senior Director of Advanced Software Integration at Plantronics, demonstrated seamless integration of Plantronics headsets into a WebRTC call flow.

"Plantronics is on the forefront of unleashing the power of WebRTC," said Rich Tehrani (News - Alert), CEO at TMC. "The company's open APIs allow tight coupling of headset state and application functionality and moreover allow the new wave of WebRTC-based solutions to communicate seamlessly over bluetooth to Plantronics headsets."

The WebRTC Conference & Expo Demonstrations and Awards was the highlight of the event with live demonstrations of applications and solutions utilizing WebRTC and culminated with six awards being presented. Phil Edholm of PKE Consulting, Carl Ford of Crossfire Media, Martin Geddes of Martin Geddes Consulting LTD, Blair Pleasant (News - Alert) of COMMFusion, and Dean Bubley of Disruptive Analysis acted as judges for the three hour event.

"When we decided to include these demos as part of our program, our expectation was to see lab work, but in truth we saw demonstrations that are either ready for market trials or already implemented. Plantronics clearly stood out and it was an honor to give them this distinction," said Carl Ford (News - Alert), CEO of Crossfire Media and a judge of the Demo event.

WebRTC Conference and Expo is billed as the event where architects, enablers and users of Web Real-Time Communication (RTC) gather to advance the standards, and discover the most promising emerging applications for WebRTC.
