Dell, Aipu Develop Cloud Computing Center in Chengdu

CHENGDU, Dec 06, 2012 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) -- A cloud computing center jointly developed by Dell Inc. (NASDAQ: DELL) and Aipu Network is going to be put into operation.

The oncoming center is said to be one of the first-class public cloud computing centers in southwestern China, according to news from an open activity held by the "Dell-Aipu cloud computing center". The center is based on an over 200-square meter and self-contained computer room where several rows of cabinets are running. The computer room is in the Chengdu High-tech Incubation Park.

According to the entire plan, the two partners will invest CNY 50 million in the center in the first phase, and will continue additional investment in the following two years to ensure the total investment to surpass CNY 200 million.

A person in charge of the project said that the phase-I project is reckoned to support 2,000 virtual hosts, and the figure is guessed to increase to over 100,000 two years later. The center will not only provide services for enterprise users but also support individual users.
