'Big Bang's' Mayim Bialik and husband to divorce after nine years

Nov 21, 2012 (Los Angeles Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Mayim Bialik and her husband, Michael Stone, are getting divorced after nine years of marriage, "The Big Bang Theory" actress announced Wednesday.

"After much consideration and soul-searching, Michael and I have arrived at the decision to divorce due to 'Irreconcilable Differences,'" she wrote on her blog at Kveller, a parenting website. The couple has two sons, 7-year-old Miles and 4-year-old Frederick.

"The hands-on style of parenting we practice" -- the onetime "Blossom" star is the author of a book on attachment parenting -- "played no role in the changes that led to this decision," she wrote; "relationships are complicated no matter what style of parenting you choose." She previously described to the L.A. Times some of the principles of attachment parenting: Concepts include sleeping with your child, wearing your child in a sling rather than pushing him around in a stroller and "honoring a baby's voice, meaning honoring a baby's cry and not seeing babies as manipulative," Bialik said in March. "Attachment parenting is not permissive parenting, but the general notion is children have feelings that should be valued." In asking Wednesday for some privacy, she gave an idea of the family's next steps.

"The main priority for us now is to make the transition to two loving homes as smooth and painless as possible. Our sons deserve parents committed to their growth and health and that's what we are focusing on." Follow Christie D'Zurilla on Twitter and Google+.
