382 Communications Utilizes Iserv Data Center to Keep Data Safe During Hurricane Sandy

QUINCY, Mass., Nov. 16, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- 382 Communications, a global provider of voice, data, and network services, today announced its Iserv data center in Grand Rapids served as the company's data headquarters when systems were affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The Iserv data center, one of the only SSAE16 Type I certified facilities in the area, is a technology showcase that ranks among the nation's best, and served as an ideal location for 382 Communications to utilize during and after Hurricane Sandy ravaged the east coast.

"When Hurricane Sandy hit, 382 Communications was able to seamlessly switch over to the data center in Grand Rapids," said Dan Koch, Iserv CEO. "With most operations on the east coast being shut down and all other options unavailable, this was a huge advantage for us, and one that proved to be vital to our customers." 382 Communications announced the acquisition of Michigan-based Iserv, one of the largest independent internet service providers in the Midwest, in July of this year. Iserv has been able to leverage 382 Communication's expansive network to add value to its customers, and the state-of-the-art Iserv data center and headquarters in Grand Rapids, Mich. has served as an important expansion hub and national customer support center for 382 Communications during the past six months.

"Iserv continues to be an exceptional addition to 382 Communications' and this was a perfect example how it has enhanced our infrastructure," said Dan Koch, 382 Communications CEO. "Iserv's staff has years of experience developing and implementing backup and recovery plans, and we put that knowledge to work during Hurricane Sandy to ensure our company and customers weren't affected." About 382 Communications 382 Communications is a provider of voice, data, and network services to communications service providers and enterprise clients with a need for high-throughput, low latency optical and wireless solutions and a modern, fully redundant network with global presence.
