BT connects Turkish business for a better future

Nov 13, 2012 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- BT today announced the successful delivery of milestones in its expansion programme in Turkey during a meeting in Istanbul between its Global Services leadership team, top executives of large local companies and representatives of foreign multinationals investing in the country.

Since the programme was announced in February 2012, BT has launched a number of innovative services in Turkey helping companies optimise their operational efficiency and enabling them to improve collaboration to make better decisions faster. The new services available cover unified communications, IT security, smart call centre solutions and cloud computing.

BT has also established a global Centre of Excellence focused on satellite communications in Istanbul. The Centre already delivers services to leading Turkish companies with network coverage spanning Turkey, Central Asia and North Africa. By adding highly skilled specialists on the ground and by further enhancing its infrastructure and portfolio, BT continues to strengthen its position in the Turkish market.

During the Istanbul meeting, BT Global Services chief executive officer, Luis Alvarez, and his management team exchanged ideas with Turkish business leaders and government officials on issues ranging from the economic outlook to the smart deployment of technology that lies at the core of globalisation, helping enterprises capture growth.

Luis Alvarez said "Turkey, with its young, well educated population and its remarkable growth rate, is of strategic importance for multinational companies. The country is a natural bridge between Europe and Asia with Istanbul quickly establishing itself as an important financial and logistics hub.

"Turkish companies are increasingly expanding internationally and their brands are quickly establishing themselves as household names around the world. This has not gone unnoticed by global multinationals and a number of our customers are asking us to help them capitalise on the opportunities here.

"Our network, our technology and our highly skilled teams are key enablers for companies aiming at gaining competitive advantages in the global marketplace. Building on our strong assets in the country and in the wider region, we are determined to be the partner of choice for global organisations seeking to grow here and Turkish organisations investing globally." BT has been present in Turkey since 2004 with sales and support staff located in Istanbul and Ankara. It provides one of the most advanced and secure networked IT services to multinational organisations in the country and wider region, helping them meet their mission-critical requirements. It also enables the region's telecoms operators to achieve their competitive and expansion objectives. Notable customers in Turkey include Garantibank, Akbank, Hurriyet, Halkbank well as the local subsidiaries of some of the world's top multinational companies.
