Radisys and GENBAND Demonstrate Rich Communication Suite Multimedia Services for LTE Mobile Networks

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 09 November 2012 Release date- 08112012 - HILLSBORO, OR, U.S. - Radisys Corporation (NASDAQ: RSYS), a leading provider of embedded wireless infrastructure solutions, today announced that it had partnered with GENBAND, a leading developer of IP infrastructure and application solutions, to successfully deliver RCS services over a multi-vendor LTE network during the 2012 RCS VoLTE Interoperability Test (IOT) Event.

At the event, Radisys' Software Media Server performed as an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) Media Resource Function (MRF), delivering Real Time Protocol media processing requirements for RCS and Voice over LTE (VoLTE). The MRF responded to media processing requests from IMS call control equipment supplied by multiple vendors. It also supported VoLTE announcements and branding service test cases, along with RCS multimedia call flows, under the control of GENBAND's A2 Communications Application Server performing as an IMS/VoLTE Multimedia Telephony (MMTel)/RCS Application Server. The combined Radisys/GENBAND use cases included both audio and video scenarios under both Media Server Markup Language (MSML - RFC 5707) and VoiceXML control.

'Our participation in the IOT event demonstrated our expertise in supporting VoLTE and RCS services in a multi-vendor LTE IMS network,' said Adnan Saleem, chief architect, Radisys. 'Our flexible MRF demonstrated its interoperability and advanced capabilities in handling media processing requests from GENBAND's A2 MMTel/RCS Application Server. This partnership with GENBAND allowed both companies to showcase exciting mobile multimedia services that operators can provide to subscribers and generate additional revenue.' Radisys' MRF solution supports a number of RCS use cases, including two-way video calling, video ring-back messaging, video transcoding, and video conferencing support for multiple participants. GENBAND's A2 MMTel/RCS Application Server supports unified multimedia communications for voice & video calling, messaging, content sharing, file transfer and social presence.

'This interoperability test event provided a great opportunity for GENBAND and Radisys to showcase to mobile operators that they can deploy RCS VoLTE capabilities today on their LTE networks,' said BG Kumar, EVP Multimedia Business Unit for GENBAND. 'If operators are to meet the lofty communications expectations of 21st century users, they will require application solutions that provide a unique and intuitive subscriber experience across any device, network or application.'
