Telco Systems Launches Mobile Backhaul Demarcation

Nov 09, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Telco Systems, a BATM company and developer of CE2.0 compliant multi-service Carrier Ethernet access, MPLS and SDN solutions, announced that it has released its new T-Marc 3312SC next generation mobile backhaul Carrier-Ethernet/MPLS demarcation device.

According to a release, T-Marc 3312SC allows mobile operators and wholesale providers to standardize all of their deployments on one product that cost-effectively provides an answer to a variety of service requirements. Designed to support the mobile operators' transition into 3.5G and 4G technologies, it provides large port density at a very small footprint, making it an ideal solution for small cell deployments.

Telco Systems said its T-Marc 3312SC offers one of the densest demarcation devices on the market, incorporating high capacity in a compact size (1RU by half shelf width), with non-blocking architecture 12x1G ports and 8xE1/T1 Circuit Emulation Services (CES) ports for TDM over Ethernet at cell sites with legacy mobile technology. It also supports extending the core IP/MPLS to the cell site to utilize MPLS as a transport technology and enables providers to benefit from the full advantages of the MPLS such as scalability, resiliency, traffic engineering and easier third party integration and interoperability. T-Marc 3312SC comes with the Telco Systems' award winning BiNOX operating system and top of the line hardware to support Hierarchal QoS (HQoS), a large suite of resiliency protocols and high service scalability.

"Mobile network operators are facing significant backhaul challenges as they transition their networks to support skyrocketing data growth from 4G/LTE," said Ron Kline, Principal Analyst Network Infrastructure, Ovum. "At minimum, operators are demanding that backhaul equipment support the full spectrum of MEF-compliant Ethernet services along with easy to use service assurance, proactive performance monitoring, and SLA management features." The product supports a broad set of hardware-based OAM tools to help providers reduce their OPEX and assure their customers they are meeting the agreed SLA. It supports IEEE 802.1ag Connectivity Fault Management (CFM), ITU-T Y.1731, IEEE 802.3ah, EFM-OAM, RFC 2544-based embedded test heads and Y.1564. EtherSAM allows the service provider to monitor and test services end-to-end, helps identifying connectivity and performance issues, and isolates problems from a remote location, saving truck rolls and improving service quality. It is the platform of choice to enable wide-scale Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE2.0) adoption, implementation, and transformation over Ethernet or MPLS, the company added.

"Our backhaul provider customers shared with us that their biggest concern is providing assured, secured, end-to-end mobile backhaul services with low latency and high scalability," said Nir Halachmi, Mobile Backhaul Product Line Manager for Telco Systems. "T-Marc 3312SC, combined with our Ethernet/MPLS service aggregation solutions and EdgeGenie, our service management solution, allows our customers to build a cost-optimized scalable MPLS and Ethernet service management solution that can be used for cloud based services, business services and optimized mobile backhaul networking."
