Early Stage Venture Capital Alliance (ESVCA) to Honor the Mobile Cloud 9 at the Open Mobile Summit

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA, Nov 7, 2012 (Marketwire via COMTEX) -- The Early Stage Venture Capital Alliance (ESVCA), a federation of more than 150 early stage venture funds, will honor this year's Mobile Cloud 9 at the Open Mobile Summit. The Mobile Cloud 9 are a select group of nine investors recognized annually by members of the ESVCA for their contributions to the mobile and cloud computing industries, and for the role they play in helping entrepreneurs build successful companies. The Mobile Cloud 9 will be honored at the Open Mobile Summit opening reception, which takes place this evening from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. PST at the InterContinental San Francisco Hotel.

The intersection of mobile computing and cloud-based services represents a massive wave of new product and service innovations. The Mobile Cloud 9 fosters this innovation by matching entrepreneur talents with talented investors. They are recognized by their peers as the top early stage investors for entrepreneurs and startups focused on mobile and cloud computing; and as valuable partners for those VCs that want to collaborate with investors entrenched in mobile.

"The Open Mobile Summit is bringing together some of the most prominent thought leaders and talented entrepreneurs in the mobile industry, making it an ideal venue to honor this distinguished group of VCs," said John Occhipinti, Chair of the ESVCA and Partner at Relay Ventures.

This year's Mobile Cloud 9 members include: Alfred Lin, Partner, Sequoia Capital; Bob Borchers, General Partner, Opus Capital; David Weiden, Partner, Khosla Ventures; Jonathan Ebinger, General Partner, BlueRun Ventures; Kevin Talbot, Managing Partner, Relay Ventures; Matt Murphy, Partner, KPCB; Ping Li, Partner, Accel Partners; Rob Coneybeer, Managing Director, Shasta Ventures; and Tim Chang, Managing Partner, Mayfield Fund.

"Mobile is one of the fastest growing segments of the technology industry," says Robin Batt, organizer of the Open Mobile Summit. "We are very pleased to have this select group of early stage investors recognized at our annual event for their contribution to the mobile industry and support of entrepreneurs that are driving innovation in this market." The Open Mobile Summit takes place at the InterContinental in San Francisco from November 7 - 9, 2012. About ESVCA The Early Stage Venture Capital Alliance (ESVCA) is a community of more than 150 early stage venture capitalists who gather together to share common challenges, practices and information on their ever-evolving business environment. Founded in 1990, ESVCA has been unique from its inception. While the venture community had plenty of CEO Forums and conferences, none existed for early stage venture capitalists. The original idea of ESVCA was to create an exclusive atmosphere where managing partners of early stage VCs could exchange candid observations and information on the most sensitive topics facing the industry. Today, the ESVCA strictly maintains the same atmosphere that fosters effective communication among its members. The ESVCA is committed to promoting shared and secure information between the most critical resources to today's sophisticated early stage ventures. To learn more, please visit: www.esvca.com.
