Telvent Enhances Capabilities to Integrated Smart Grid Solutions Suite

Oct 11, 2012 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Telvent GIT, S.A., a leading real-time IT solutions and information provider for a sustainable world, announced today that recent upgrades to its Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS 3.3) feature several leading-edge additions, making it the first-ever system to seamlessly merge full-feature distribution management, outage management, and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) solutions.

With the enhanced technology offered by Telvent, utilities can deploy DMS, OMS and SCADA with a common network model, security infrastructure, integration services, and training platform all managed in a unified, role-based user interface. Utilities implementing the system will see immediate benefits from improved reliability, safety and efficiency through automation that supports multiple goals including energy loss minimization, improved demand management and emergency response. With new network planning functions and an improved web client, utilities have the flexibility to manage all ADMS applications in one secure user experience, making network operations and planning flexible, simple and accessible both inside and outside the control room.

According to Telvent's Chairman and CEO, Ignacio Gonzalez, "Telvent is proud to be at the forefront of the smart grid market. With our ADMS solution utilities benefit from the flexibility, simplicity and strategic approach of the most innovative solution we've released to-date." With this upgrade, utilities also will benefit from the improved ADMS Training Simulator, a robust training module that will help utilities prepare operators and dispatchers for a full variety of scenarios in order to perform their jobs safely and reliably. This will enable the utility to get up-and-running quickly at the onset of a project and provide continued ongoing training for mission critical systems.

Telvent's advanced DMS is currently deployed in more than 26 countries and serves 68 million utility customers. It received a "strong positive" rating, the highest possible, from Gartner Inc., the world's leading information technology research and advisory company, in its March 2012 report, "MarketScope for Advanced Distribution Management Systems." ________________________________________ About Telvent Telvent is a global IT solutions and business information services provider dedicated to helping improve efficiency, safety and security for the world's leading companies.
