Clean Energy Trust Selects Bleeding Edge Technologies for October 3rd Tech Showcase

CHICAGO --(Business Wire)--

Clean Energy Trust today announced the presenters for its inaugural Tech Showcase, featuring top research from some of the Midwest's most prestigious institutions.

The technologies selected represent potential breakthroughs in battery storage, water management, biofuels, and clean energy. The October 3 event will connect entrepreneurs, investors and researchers who can work together to commercialize the latest clean technologies and feature a panel discussion on how private enterprise can leverage publicly funded research.

"This research has the potential to develop into disruptive technology or enable other breakthrough applications," said Amy Francetic, Clean Energy Trust executive director. "Our goal with this event is to foster partnership and collaboration to get the latest science out of the lab and into the marketplace."

CET also announced participants for the Showcase's panel on public-private research partnerships. Veterans of these collaborative efforts will offer their perspectives on how best to engage with research institutions. The panelists are:

Hans Blascheck, director of the Center for Advanced BioEnergy Research at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

David Garman, dean of the School of Freshwater Sciences at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee

Maureen McCann, director of the Energy Center at Purdue

Tracy Warren, general partner at Battelle Ventures, panel moderator

John Flavin, managing director, Flavin Ventures, LLC and executive director, Chicago Innovation Mentors, will keynote the event. Flavin, who led two successful NASDAQ IPOs and has more than 20 years of experience commercializing research, will discuss the challenges and opportunities in public-private research partnerships.
