18 Greenberg Traurig Attorneys Recognized by Daily Business Review During its 2012 Top Dealmakers of the Year Awards

MIAMI --(Business Wire)--

International law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A. announced today that six of its Florida-based attorneys were named among the Daily Business Review's 2012 Top Dealmakers of the Year at the publication's Annual Dealmakers of the Year Awards Luncheon held on Friday, May 4 at the Four Seasons Hotel Miami. Another 12 were named finalists. A special report listing the Top Dealmakers and Top Dealmaker finalists ran in today's Daily Business Review.

Each year, American Lawyer Media recognizes those who, according to the publication's nomination and award guidelines, made the biggest, most significant and complex deals in South Florida during the previous 12 months. The winners were selected from among more than 150 nominees in 12 categories.

The Top Dealmakers and The Top Dealmaker Finalists are listed below:

Top Dealmakers:

  • Israel L. Alfonso was named Top Dealmaker in the Retail (Real Estate) category for assisting Inditex Group with the $324 million purchase of 39,000 square feet of retail space, which now holds retailer Zara.
  • Lorne S. Cantor and Marlon D. Goldstein were named Top Dealmakers in the Corporate Finance category for their roles in assisting the Pokagon Gaming Authority of Michigan with obtaining a $140 million syndicated bank loan to refinance bond issues, pay for developments and buy out a management contract.
  • Jaret L. Davis was named Top Dealmaker in the Corporate (Domestic) category for his role in the negotiation of the $2 billion sale of Terremark Worldwide to Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless. Adam Smith, Chief Legal officer of Terremark was also named Top Dealmaker alongside Davis. This is the second time the two have received the Top Dealmakers award since 2010.
  • Richard J. Giusto was named Top Dealmaker in the Office (Real Estate) category for representing Invesco in its $750 million acquisition of 230 Park Ave.
  • Nancy B. Lash was named Top Dealmaker in the Industrial (Real Estate) category for representing Industrial Income Trust in its $105 million purchase and financing of seven industrial buildings.


Top Dealmaker finalists:

  • Patricia Menéndez-Cambó, Enrique J. Martin, Edilsa Ruiz, Alexandra M. Aguirre and Randy A. Bullard were finalists in the Corporate (Domestic) category for their representation of Rowland Coffee in its $360 million sale of their Cafe Bustelo and Cafe Pilon brands to J.M. Smucker Co.
  • Robert L. Grossman and Drew M. Altman were finalists in the Corporate (Domestic) category for their roles in assisting Ladenburg Thalmann Financial Services with structuring its takeover of Securities America with an initial purchase payment of $150 million.
  • Patricia Menéndez-Cambó, Randy A. Bullard, Mark A. Lopez, Paul Berkowitz and Paul J. Keenan, Jr. were finalists in the Corporate (International) category for their roles in getting Mexican satellite operator Satelites Mexicanos through a quick U.S. bankruptcy restructuring while simultaneously completing a deal for $421 million in new financing.
  • David E. Wells was a finalist in the Corporate (Domestic) category for representing Metropolitan Healthcare Networks in its efforts to raise more than $300 million of debt financing and acquire Miami-based Continucare.
  • Jennifer D. Westerlund was a finalist in the Corporate (International) category for her role in assisting APR Energy with an $855 million takeover deal that launched the company on the London Stock Exchange.
