TXU Energy Joins 'Green Button' Initiative

TXU Energy announced today that it has joined the Green Button initiative to provide electricity customers with standardized data to help them better understand their energy usage. By adopting the Green Button, the company extends its commitment to innovation and helping customers use less energy and save money on their electricity bills.

The Green Button is a consensus industry standard that was developed by the energy industry in collaboration with the Commerce Department's National Institute of Standards and Technology. By standardizing consumer energy usage information about electricity consumption, Green Button provides software developers and other third parties with a uniform platform for developing applications. It also significantly increases the potential market for innovative products to expand to millions of electricity customers across the country.

"We launched the TXU Energy MyEnergy Dashboard^SM in 2011 as a way to give customers the ability to view, track and manage their electricity usage and now, by supporting Green Button, we hope to build on the ways we inform, educate, advise and assist our customers as they buy and consume electricity."

MyEnergy Dashboard is a proprietary tool that gives TXU Energy customers the information and tools they need to take control of their bills via web or Smartphone. The tool is available to all customers; but for more than one million who have smart meters, it offers deeper details and analysis. This detail includes forecasted electricity usage and costs as well as graphs that can drill down to show daily or hourly electricity usage. Some of the tool's features are also available through the free TXU Energy app for iPhone®.
