Maryland Heights Chooses Accela Automation for Permitting, Licensing and Asset Management

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO -- (Marketwire) -- 04/26/12 -- Accela, Inc. announced today that the City of Maryland Heights, Mo., has selected the company's Accela Automation® enterprise software to help it deliver a wide range of city services more efficiently via the Internet. Accela's solutions for permitting, licensing and infrastructure asset management will be used to augment service delivery to more than 27,000 residents and to facilitate information-sharing between several city departments, including the City Clerk's Office, Business Licensing, Community Development and Public Works.

Maryland Heights will use a full suite of Accela Automation's core land management, licensing and case management, and asset management applications. The Accela system will replace legacy software from Hansen Information Technologies and will be used to support management of projects connected to the city's growing hospitality industry, encompassing its waterpark, community center, 95-acre sports complex, amphitheater, and convention center.

Accela Automation will help the city streamline key tasks and processes, such as: development planning across the city and for the Howard Bend Floodplain adjacent the Missouri River; permitting and inspections for new construction; investigations and approvals for liquor and business licenses; and maintenance of more than 80 miles of streets and sidewalks, and a fleet of more than 50 vehicles, including street sweeping trucks and snow removal equipment.

To engage with citizens openly and efficiently, Maryland Heights will deploy Accela Citizen Access™ for fast, easy online submittal and tracking of permit and license applications or service requests. To enable more flexible sharing and updating of key data, the city will utilize Accela GIS™ and Accela Mobile Office™, so that mobile workers can access needed maps, plan their appointments and routes, and update project-specific digital records from the field in real time, enabling greater efficiency and coordination with the back office.

"As our hundreds of customers can attest, Accela Automation is a highly competitive solution that is very well-suited to meet the multifaceted needs of city, state and local governments looking to provide high-quality services to their constituents," said Maury Blackman, Accela CEO and President. "We are delighted to have won this deal -- delivering not only our web-based permitting, planning and licensing applications, but also our asset management capabilities and our citizen-engagement, GIS, and mobile add-ons. We look forward to helping Maryland Heights manage a wide variety of tasks and resources in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible." The new Accela Automation implementation is scheduled to go live in early 2013, with support from Accela partner TruePoint Solutions to provide setup, configuration and deployment services.
