Procera SmartCampus 2.0 Adds User Awareness to Policy Enforcement Solutions for Higher Education

Procera Networks, Inc. ("Procera") (NASDAQ: PKT), the intelligent policy enforcement company, today announced the launch of PacketLogic™ SmartCampus 2.0, a critical building block for intelligent policy enforcement (IPE) in higher education institutions. SmartCampus 2.0 extends the industry-leading user management capabilities of PacketLogic solutions deployed throughout the world in higher education networks. By providing the critical dimension of user awareness to policy enforcement, SmartCampus 2.0 completes the policy-making picture by connecting users and devices to a single identity.
SmartCampus 2.0 is a software suite that runs on PacketLogic Subscriber Manager (PSM). It integrates into identity infrastructure through a comprehensive set of standard interfaces and protocols. With this extensive user awareness, the PacketLogic Realtime Enforcement (PRE) systems can then deliver comprehensive analytics and actionable policy services. These capabilities streamline a network administrator's ability to comply with fair use and HEOA regulations. For applications requiring customization, SmartCampus 2.0 integrates with any third-party system through simple-to-use APIs, thereby delivering the industry's broadest suite of user and application aware use cases.
At Miami University, integration with a third party Network Access Control (NAC) system was a critical success factor for the rollout of an enhanced bandwidth service for power users on campus.

The University of Dayton required user awareness enabled by SmartCampus 2.0 in enforcing a single data consumption quota across a user's many devices.

For enforcement of Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedown notices, SmartCampus 2.0 can log all usernames with associated session data, including IP address. Since violators are identified by network addressing, which is ephemeral, this correlation is critical to finding the username and enforcing the takedown. Through this mechanism, SmartCampus expedites resolution and enforcement of these infringements. Should special or customized actions be further required, SmartCampus can execute those as required.
