UIT Announces SV5000G2 and SV3000G2 Storage Systems at NAB 2012

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) LAS VEGAS, NV -- (Marketwire) -- 04/17/12 -- UIT (United Information Technology Ltd.) announced today the SV5000G2 and SV3000G2, industry-leading enterprise level storage systems designed to unleash the power of the Intel Jasper Forestâ„¢ and Intel Bromolowâ„¢ platforms. Designed for enterprise, media and entertainment, medical imaging and video surveillance industries, both the SV5000G2 and SV3000G2 offer superior bandwidth/throughput and IOPS in 3U/16 Bay and 2U/24 Bay form factor. They are available in a rich variety of host connections/ports, such as 8Gb Fibre Channel (FC), 10GE (and GE) i-SCSI, while the expansion enclosures are connected via multiple 6Gb SAS ports.

UIT is showing both the SV5000G2 and SV3000G2 products at the NAB 2012 Show, April 16-19, 2012, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, inside the Intel Booth (# SL 12810).

Utilizing Intel Jasper Forest's high-speed I/O and embedded storage features, SV5000G2, with dual 8Gb FC controllers, delivers a stunning 5,100 MB/s of sustained throughput, which is ideal for the media and entertainment industry, where demand for proper handling of 4K video and other high resolution video is becoming more of a daily routine. Aside from its impressive performance, the SV5000G2 also supports rich enterprise features such as Snapshot, Thin-Provisioning, Replication (both asynchronous and synchronous), Cloning, Mirroring and more.

The SV3000G2 leverages the Intel Bromolow platform, which supports a wide range of Intel processors. It addresses and provides lower cost storage solutions while still keeping most of the advanced enterprise features of SV5000G2. The form factor of SV3000G2 is identical to SV5000G2, in both chassis and controller. It is expected to ship to the North America market in Q3 2012.

The storage capacity of the SV5000G2 and SV3000G2 can be expanded significantly, simply by connecting either the SV5000G2 or SV3000G2 to two ultra dense SV4060j 4U/60Bay expansion chassis, reaching a stunning 410TB total storage capacity.

"UIT is excited to announce the SV5000G2 and SV3000G2 products that are made up of both Intel technology and UIT's advanced software and storage expertise," said Tony Chen, CEO, UIT. "These two new products are the latest members of UIT's Unified Storage offerings. They are designed for medium to small enterprises, for general purpose data storage and cloud data center deployments. The superior throughput of the SV5000G2 family has made it a perfect weapon for the media and entertainment industry. And the lower cost SV3000G2 family make it the ideal platform for an entry level solution in video surveillance, medical imaging and cloud data center applications, where the cost and energy savings are the major consideration in choosing a solution." Many solutions and applications have been developed on UIT's Unified Storage platform, especially the SV5000G2 and SV3000G2. The SV5000G2 is widely used in Asia Pacific and Europe, especially in the Chinese market. Typical applications of SV5000G2 are HD video editing, streaming, storage, databases, HPC and Medical/Healthcare. The industries that have successfully deployed the SV5000G2 range from telecommunications, media and entertainment and super computing centers to oil and gas exploration, education and major research institutes.

Pricing Inquiries and AvailabilityThe SV5000G2 is available immediately to the North America market. For pricing inquiries or reselling opportunities, please contact the UIT North America Sales team. The SV3000G2 will be available in Q3 2012.
