WEGENER and Salem Radio Network Completes SRN's iPump 6420 Upgrade Project

JOHNS CREEK, GA, Apr 13, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Wegener Corporation (OTCQB: WGNR) (PINKSHEETS: WGNR), a leading provider of equipment for television, audio and data distribution networks worldwide, today announced Salem Radio Network (SRN) has completed its infrastructure with WEGENER(R) network control and satellite receiver equipment. Orders were placed and shipped during WEGENER's fiscal year 2011.

The network control systems at SRN and Salem Music Network (SMN) runs the Linux version of Compel(R) with advanced store/forward control features for radio networks. The system retains features to control and manage linear WEGENER Unity(R) satellite receivers. As previously published, SRN is deploying WEGENER iPump(R) 6420 audio servers to commercial affiliates in the Top 100 markets. The iPump 6420 can process live satellite and file-based audio programming and output up to three custom radio channels. The unit also supports relay closures and GPI inputs for local traffic systems, as-run and status reporting, and optional Internet file delivery.

"SRN's decision to continue utilizing a satellite receiver from WEGENER is based on the iPump 6420's quality, functionality and widespread industry use," said Greg Anderson, president of Salem National, which includes SRN and SMN. "With over a decade of nearly flawless service with the current WEGENER Unity receivers, SRN is confident that WEGENER's new product will serve SRN and the Christian radio community for many years to come." SRN will continue to offer live radio broadcasts for affiliates using WEGENER linear satellite receivers to access programming. Affiliates using WEGENER iPump 6420 media servers will have access to the same programming. During a phased rollout, SRN plans to offer new file-based services to iPump 6420 affiliates.

SRN is a full-service satellite radio network based in Dallas, Texas.

It serves Christian-formatted and general market news/talk stations through affiliate partnerships. SRN has become one of the fastest growing full-service networks in the U.S., serving more than 2000 radio stations.

"WEGENER is excited to continue to work with SRN to upgrade their radio network to include file-based technologies," stated Troy Woodbury, President and CEO of Wegener Corporation. "It is an opportunity to develop and implement powerful new broadcast strategies." WEGENER will exhibit at the 2012 NAB Show. WEGENER representative, Thomas Bush (t.bush@wegener.com), will be available in booth #SU2519 to discuss WEGENER's broadcast radio solutions.
