Fresh Brewed Films Wraps 'Thankfully Local With Chef Chuck'

HIGH POINT, NC, Apr 02, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Fresh Brewed Films, LLC, is proud to announce the wrapping of production for the MAVTV pilot, Thankfully Local With Chef Chuck, a cooking show that highlights Chef Charles Hayworth's survival from stomach cancer that he attributes to eating nothing but fresh, locally grown produce.

Hayworth is a 10-year cancer survivor and owner and executive chef of Worth It Cafe, North Carolina's first quick-service farm-to-table restaurant in Durham's famed Research Triangle. Thankfully Local follows Chef Chuck through various farmers markets and into his home, where he features regulars from his restaurant and instructs them on how to make healthful, local dishes. Each episode highlights a different locally grown ingredient of the week.

"I'm incredibly honored to have the opportunity to shine the light on my friends and showcase the amazing passion of the area farmers who I personally give credit to, along with my doctors, in saving my life," said Hayworth, a graduate of Johnson and Wales University who also has experience as a motion picture caterer.

In one of the first episodes, viewers tag along as Hayworth visits L and G Farm's booth at a local farmers market where a rainbow of sweet potatoes are on display. Hayworth talks with the growers about the different varieties and their uses, providing valuable information to the audience. Upon returning home, he invites a long-time neighbor over and together they cook up sweet potato and baby leek soup, sweet potato au gratin served with grilled asparagus and North Carolina pork tenderloin, and for dessert, sweet potato panna cotta.

"Chuck is an incredibly talented chef with an engaging personality," said director Josh Strayhorn. "And, the message the series conveys about the many benefits of using produce from local farms is not only timely but has broad appeal." Future episodes will each focus on a different ingredient from not only the Tar Heel State but also from across the Southeastern United States, serving up education, shopping tips, recipes and putting a face on the men and women who struggle to not only put food on their own tables but ours, as well.

About Fresh Brewed Films Fresh Brewed Films is a High Point-based film, television and new media production company led by producer Michael Hayworth, Chuck's brother. Michael is a graduate of the Full Sail School of Film and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He has studied media marketing management at the Harvard Business School and has over a decade of experience in film production. Previous successful projects include Bar Flies and 55 Mercer Street, the first-ever, live-action, scripted Web series.

About MAVTV MAVTV, seen in 8.7 million households, was founded in 2002 by four former Showtime Network executives and was originally geared towards a male-dominated audience. In 2011, MAVTV was purchased by Lucas Oil Products, an automotive lubricant manufacturer with a history in television production. Having grown their company from a single-product company into an international powerhouse in the lubricant and motorsports industries, Lucas Oil was eager to employ similar strategies to transform MAVTV into a premier cable network.

Lucas envisioned a broader-scoped network geared towards the modern American family, with significant enhancements to add more value to the consumer experience, including, but not limited to: investments in programming, updated on-air look, and increased production quality. MAVTV continues to grow daily and will never stop its mission to deliver the highest quality HD programming possible.
