TELUS unleashes Optik TV in Penticton

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 30 March 2012 Release date- 29032012 - Penticton, B.C. - TELUS Optik TV has arrived in Penticton, for the first time giving residents a real choice of where to get TV service.

To mark the launch of Optik TV and in support of TELUS' philosophy to 'give where we live', TELUS will give $25* to the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation, in support of the Penticton Regional Hospital, for every new customer signing up for Optik TV or activating a smartphone in Penticton.

'We're delighted to offer TELUS' all digital Optik TV to Penticton households as we continue to invest in bringing this advanced technology to our customers across B.C. The impressive features and unmatched flexibility of Optik will change the way residents of Penticton watch TV,' said Steve Jenkins, TELUS general manager for B.C. Interior South. 'The TELUS team feels privileged to contribute to the development of the Penticton Regional Hospital, in celebration of every new customer who takes advantage of this new suite of home entertainment services. Expanding our community health facilities is vitally important in helping to keep our community members close to their homes and families as they go through treatment.' This new campaign will help to fund upgrades to the Penticton Regional Hospital's laboratory facilities, including the construction of a new Histology lab. The histology lab will facilitate the completion of patient biopsies before, during and after surgery. The availability of an onsite histology lab adjacent to operating rooms will allow for rapid information flow while surgery is in progress, contributing meaningfully to better patient outcomes.

'We are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with TELUS. The Histology program that TELUS is supporting today is about providing residents with excellent health care in our local regional hospital,' said Janice Perrino, Executive Director, South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation. 'TELUS is an incredible community supporter and has been involved for many years in the fundraising programs with the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation for the Penticton Regional Hospital. We are grateful for their support, dedication and commitment to health care for the citizens.'
