Rascal Flatts announces intimate charity concert at Hard Rock Tulsa

Mar 23, 2012 (Tulsa World - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Rascal Flatts, featuring Picher native Joe Don Rooney, will perform a one-off charity concert May 28 at The Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tulsa.

The country music act will raise money for Owasso-based Folds of Honor Foundation. Tickets are $125 and go on sale April 12, available at tulsaworld.com/hardrockcasino, 918-384-ROCK and venue box office. Guests must be at least 21 years old.

All proceeds from ticket sales will go to the nonprofit, venue management said.

This is a rare opportunity to see the band in a "homecoming" show at an intimate venue. The act has sold millions of tickets to sold-out live arena shows in recent years.

The band is lead vocalist Gary LeVox, guitarist-vocalist Rooney and bassist-vocalist Jay DeMarcus.

The Folds of Honor Foundation provides post-secondary educational scholarships for children and spouses of military service men and women killed or disabled while serving America. To date, nearly 2,600 scholarships have been awarded.

Since 2000, Rascal Flatts has sold more than 21 million albums. Thirteen singles have hit No. 1 on the Billboard country song chart, helping them become the most-played country group on radio last year. Flatts is also the most-awarded country group of the last 10 years.

The band's new studio album, "Changed," hits stores April 3.
