Twilio Client for iOS: Any Developer Can Add VoIP to Their Apps

SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)--

Twilio (News - Alert) (http://www.twilio.com), the market leader in cloud communications, is announcing the launch of Twilio Client for iOS. The product, which is a simple software development kit (SDK), makes it incredibly easy for mobile developers to integrate voice over IP (VoIP) capabilities into their iPad, iPhone (News - Alert) and iPod touch apps, essentially turning any part of an app into a fully functional VoIP phone. With Twilio Client for iOS, developers can add VoIP features to existing apps or build totally new kinds of apps from scratch.

"Twilio's mission is to open the black box of telecom and make its power accessible to developers everywhere," said Twilio CEO and Co-founder Jeff Lawson. "With Twilio Client for iOS, we're enabling mobile developers to incorporate VoIP directly into their apps to create rich communication experiences. We can't wait to see what they build."

With Twilio Client for iOS, developers can create apps that:

  • Let users make phone calls through any iOS device with a data cnnection (including iPad and iPod touch)
  • Allow businesses to deploy mobile agents anywhere with nothing but an iPad and a headset
  • Deploy tap-to-call features within apps that feed rich information to CRM, advertising or analytic partners

In addition, Twilio Client for iOS comes with online presence built in, so users can detect when another user is available for a voice chat.

With Twilio Client for iOS, RingDNA built an enterprise-ready iPad app that provides companies with actionable marketing and sales data that includes call tracking, intelligent call routing, CRM integration and click-to-call functionality.

"Because of Twilio's rock-solid client for iOS SDK, our developers could focus on RingDNA's core cloud marketing, sales and service features without bearing the prohibitive cost of creating the telephony API ourselves," said Howard Brown, CEO of RingDNA.

Developers can visit http://www.twilio.com/api/client/ios to get started with no contracts or setup fees. An Android (News - Alert) version of Twilio Client is also in private beta, interested participants can visit http://www.twilio.com/api/client to request access.
