Edgewater Wireless Successful Trial in Brazil

(Marketwire (Canada) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 2, 2012) - Edgewater Wireless (TSX VENTURE:YFI) a leading developer of IP and technology for the communications market, is pleased to report another successful trial of its flagship EAP3000 family of multi-channel, 802.11 compliant access point (AP) products in the region of Tres Pontas, Brazil.

In this trial, Edgewater Wireless replaced six (6) existing, single-channel access points with a single EAP3000 access point in an area of high networking congestion and interference. The single EAP3000 was able to increase performance and improve overall connectivity to the subscribers.

Prior to the installation of the EAP3000 access point, subscribers in Tres Pontas had very poor network performance and quality of service (QoS). LinkPower, a regional wireless solution provider, and TPNet, a Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) selected the EAP3000, integrated with Edgewater Wireless' wideband, multi-channel radio technology, because of its ability to mitigate inter-channel interference that resulted in improved performance and QoS.

Further, the flexibility of the EAP3000 enabled the access point to be configured as five (5) independent, virtual access points (VAPs) distributed across three (3) unique wireless channels. Along with demonstrating the performance and coverage benefits of the EAP3000, TPNet also noted that it was highly advantageous to be able to reduce the number of units needed to provide quality coverage as it resulted in the management of fewer elements in the network.

"The customer's original plan was to add even more APs into the network to try and improve coverage but they were really just creating more interference in the network," said Andrew Skafel, President of Edgewater Wireless. "We were able to show LinkPower and its customer, TPNet, that a single EAP3000 was a much better solution that improved customer satisfaction while reducing capital and operational expenditures."
