SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Open Networking Summits, Inc., the only nonprofit conference group dedicated to accelerating the future of OpenFlow and Software Defined Networking (SDN) technologies, today announced that the second annual Open Networking Summit will be held April 16-18, 2012 at Santa Clara, Calif. Marriott. With nearly 800 attendees expected from around the globe, Open Networking Summit 2012 will highlight the latest OpenFlow and SDN developments and feature a keynote presentation from Urs Holzle, senior vice president, technical infrastructure and Google Fellow at Google, and Chairman of the Board of the Open Networking Foundation (ONF).


"Our 2011 inaugural event received such positive feedback throughout the industry that we had to return for a second year," said Guru Parulkar, executive director of the Stanford University Clean Slate Research Program and chairman of the 2012 Summit. "SDN and the OpenFlow standard will define the future of networking. The Open Networking Summit will prepare attendees for the networking revolution by singularly focusing on the research, technologies, deployment and use-cases of OpenFlow and SDN." This year's Open Networking Summit, produced in cooperation with the ONF, will kick off with a keynote address from Urs Holzle, who will share his perspective on OpenFlow and SDN. In his address, Holzle will discuss why and how OpenFlow and SDN will revolutionize networking, and talk about Google's experiences with the technologies. During the event, attendees will also have the opportunity to learn from the creators of OpenFlow and SDN, network operators engaging in trial deployments of OpenFlow and SDN, and enterprises and service providers that are leading the development of SDN technologies.

In addition, this year's Open Networking Summit will provide: An exhibit hall showcasing 20 OpenFlow and SDN technologies, products and services.

Case study sessions from vendors and customers currently conducting trial deployments of OpenFlow and SDN.

Demonstrations of the latest research from leading academic institutions.

A pair of tutorials for product managers and engineers, respectively, to gain deep and even hands-on understanding of SDN technologies.

Tailored conference sessions with a focus on SDN for data center networks, SDN for service provider networks and SDN for enterprise networks.
