Comverge Enhances IntelliPEAK Digital Control Unit to Provide Support for Automated Dynamic Pricing Programs

(GlobeNewswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) SAN ANTONIO, Texas, Jan. 24, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Comverge, Inc. (Nasdaq:COMV), the leading provider of Intelligent Energy Management solutions for Residential and Commercial & Industrial (C&I) customers, today introduced the IntelliPEAK 910 digital control unit (DCU), which now includes capabilities to support automated dynamic pricing programs. By allowing users to quickly and easily schedule dynamic pricing events through the IntelliSOURCE Web portal, IntelliPEAK 910 helps utilities reduce peak demand by making it easier for clients to participate in time-of-use and critical peak pricing programs.

As industry studies have shown, using technology to automate dynamic pricing programs can result in significantly increased amounts of peak demand reduction, as opposed to relying on the consumer to manually reduce demand. With the new release, Comverge customers can automate, streamline and simplify the execution of dynamic pricing programs by using IntelliSOURCE 2.0, Comverge's industry-leading enterprise-class software platform and operating environment, to manage IntelliPEAK 910 through a two-way network that optimizes the reduction of energy demand.

"As the smart grid continues to develop, dynamic pricing programs are receiving increasing interest as an effective means to manage expensive peak demand," said R. Blake Young, president and chief executive officer, Comverge. "IntelliPEAK 910 enables utilities to easily automate the dynamic pricing process. By automating the process, utilities have a highly reliable source of capacity, unlike programs that use manual home energy management portals." The IntelliPEAK 910 also includes the ability to individually control up to four loads, saving both hardware and installation costs over the life of the program. For installations with both HVAC and water heater programs, a single IntelliPEAK 910 DCU can be used to control both devices. Each device can be individually controlled through separate commands, or they can both be controlled with a single command.
