TelcoTV Panel Reveals Approaches to Addressing "The Changing Realities of Next-Generation Networks"

PETALUMA, CA, Oct 18, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Cyan today announced the company will be moderating a panel titled "The Changing Realities of Next-Generation Networks," at the TelcoTV 2011 Conference & Expo taking place October 25-27 at the Ernest N.

Morial Convention Center, New Orleans. Cyan's Frank Wiener, vice president of marketing, will facilitate a discussion between three Cyan customers -- Clearwave Communications, USCarrier Telecom, and Nebraska-owned telecommunications provider Great Plains Communications -- on the growing demand for video and its implications for service-provider networks.

Video continues to grow as a popular network service deeply intertwined with how people consume information and communicate with each other, and service providers are already seeing the impact. As overall traffic-per-subscriber bandwidth requirements continue to skyrocket, and expectations of service quality increase, service providers will no longer be able to depend on their current approach to building and managing their networks. This change will fundamentally alter service provider economics and create a new success model for the future.

In this panel session, Wiener will be joined by Ray Cagle, COO at Clearwave Communications; Jack Roberts, vice president of sales, USCarrier Telecom; and John Greene, chief network engineer, Great Plains Communications, to discuss the changing economics and subscriber requirements of the service-provider market. Panelists will also share real-world examples of how to modify business models to accommodate new network requirements, turning these challenges into new revenue opportunities.
