Telesocial Launches a Free API to Bring Mobile Voice to the Social Web

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) San Francisco, California (PRWEB) October 11, 2011 Telesocial, the San Francisco-based telephony service platform, announced today the launch of their free API to enable developers to integrate mobile voice calling into their applications. Telesocial’s proprietary platform allows software developers to integrate mobile calling (not VoIP) into their applications without any usage fees, an industry first. Telesocial’s API, combined with an inter-operator cloud directory, allows web users to click-to-call directly to a mobile phone from within a social game or app, without having to know the receivers’ phone number. Telesocial’s API is transforming the social web into an integrated directory and perhaps the ultimate phone book.

Interested in calling the person who just watered your crops in that farming game? How about calling the entire farming community? Want to screen your date with a phone call before going out with him or her – but not give out your number? Telesocial makes it possible to initiate mobile-to-mobile calls without ever sharing your phone number with the other parties, making it possible for all participants to communicate safely and securely.

The Telesocial API is unique because it gives developers a versatile interface, providing for a wide range of voice-powered use cases and integrations. Unlike existing VoIP solutions, a user doesn’t need to be logged into the social platform, game, or application to receive a call or a voice message, as call functionalities are delivered via the existing mobile-phone infrastructure. Telesocial’s solution is enabled by strategic relationships with key telecoms providers.

Because Telesocial powers mobile-to-mobile calling between friends, fans, and followers, without exchanging mobile numbers, the user experience is both safe and convenient. Developers have the option to notify users of a phone conversation by ringing their mobile, sending them a link via sms or email, or by providing an in-app notification. Additionally, Telesocial provides data on the API usage, giving developers the ability to directly measure the impact, click by click.

“The Telesocial API allows developers to add innovative voice functionalities to their games and applications,” says Eric Stone, CTO and co-founder of Telesocial. “Our API translates user IDs into phone numbers, creating a phone-numberless voice service that connects people anytime, anywhere on their favorite device, the mobile phone.” Platform features include group calling, always-on Talkspaces™, in-application voicemail, voice tweets, and many more. One attribute to highlight is Telesocial’s new Click-Me-In functionality. With Click-Me-In, users can click into a Talkspace™ anytime, anywhere–without having to know the other participants telephone numbers. All participants get invited, via a link, to an always-active virtual space. Once you have created a Talkspace™ you can get alerted as soon as somebody enters that space.

“President Obama has hosted several town hall meetings on various social networks,” says Bill Waytena, CEO and co-founder of Telesocial. “While his town hall meetings have reached tens of thousands of people via micro-blogging and fan page posts, we are confident that voice remains the most expressive and compelling way to connect with others. Imagine at the next online town hall meeting the President gets on the phone …what would you ask him then?” Developers can learn more about the Telesocial API here: http://dev.telesocial.com About Telesocial: Founded in 2008, Telesocial’s mission is to make social media more social by bringing mobile voice to the social web.
