NATO's CPG Chooses David Klain of 3eTI as Designated Subject Matter Expert

Oct 07, 2011 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- 3e Technologies International (3eTI), an Ultra Electronics company and provider of wireless networks that enable critical systems security, infrastructure security, and industrial automation, announced that David Klain, Vice President, Program Management, has been selected by NATO's Civil Protection Group (CPG) as a designated Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the field of Consequences of Intercept - Command and Control for Civil-Military Interfaces.

According to an Oct. 4 release, the CPG approved his selection on Aug. 1, and Klain was formally appointed to the position on Sept. 26.

The CPG is responsible for NATO's interface with civilian organizations and alliance support of civil efforts. These organizations can request assistance from NATO during a natural or manmade disaster. In response to these requests, NATO can draw upon the pool of resources comprising its SME program to provide help with specific areas of civil protection. As one of these designated SMEs, Klain will provide expertise in various activities ranging from tabletop discussions on how to implement various capabilities to direct field support implementing the chosen strategies. NATO's selection is based on Klain's specialization in two areas falling under Civil Military Interfaces - missile defense and protection from the perspective of ballistic missile attack, and managing the consequences of a Chemical, Biological, Radiological or Nuclear (CBRN) attack.

Klain has extensive industry experience in both the public and corporate sectors. Prior to joining 3eTI, he served as Deputy Chief of Staff at the U.S. Strategic Command's Center for Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction. He also carries the distinction of leading the first-ever analysis of the consequences of intercepting a WMD-armed ballistic missile, evaluating all aspects from launch through successful intercept to first response requirements and mitigation efforts. At 3eTI, Klain leads the Solutions Business Unit and is primarily responsible for delivering secure wireless Critical Infrastructure Protection and Consequence Management/First Responder solutions to the DOD and DHS. His 26 years of expertise dovetails nicely with 3eTI's specialized products and services. For example, 3eTI's VirtualGuard product supports the capability to provide emergency response from a situational awareness and networking perspective. Other 3eTI products provide secure wireless applications designed to enhance the capacity for responding to a CBRN attack or ballistic WMD.
