Digium , Inc.: Digium and VoIP Unlimited Announce Interoperability of VoIP Unlimited's IP Network and Digium's Switchvox IPPBX

Dec 07, 2009 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- HUNTSVILLE, Ala., and DORSET, UK -- Digium , Inc., the Asterisk Company, and VoIP Unlimited, a UK business SIP trunk specialist, today announced the interoperability of VoIP Unlimited's SIP network and Switchvox, Digium's unified communications solution. The partnership allows the companies to offer the UKchannel a fully IP-based, turn-key business communications solution. VoIP Unlimited is the first ITSP in Europe to have undergone interoperability testing with Switchvox.

For years, software and IT support companies have been developing IP PBX solutions based on Digium's open source Asterisk platform, offering increased functionality and integration into their customers' networks. Many businesses appreciate the powerful features of the platform but don't want to change their business models from installers to software engineering. For these businesses, Switchvox is ideal.

Steve Bieniek, VoIP Unlimited's sales director, said: "We have already started working with Digium resellers and customers in the UK, offering our business-grade SIP trunk service. In the current economic climate end users are looking to reduce costs where possible and moving to SIP-based technologies is just one way of achieving that. Cost savings can be immediate-compare the rental costs of 4 ISDN lines against a flat fee of GBP10.99 month we offer for unlimited SIP channels. It's all about making businesses more efficient and introducing more flexible ways of communicating. Digium clearly demonstrates they have listened to the market and built features within Switchvox to make this happen effectively." Bill Miller, vice president of product management for Digium, commented: "We chose VoIP Unlimited to provide services to the UK channel based on their established position in the country's ITSP market and their experience with Asterisk. Digium's seen strong interest in Asterisk and Switchvox by UK customers recently as they look to save money while gaining VoIP features and integrating voice with other business communications. We think VoIP Unlimited is an ideal partner for bringing these benefits to UK businesses." Notes to Editors: VoIP Unlimited - "putting service back into service provider" VoIP Unlimited provides business grade SIP trunking services to a UK based channel of IT solution companies, system integrators and traditional telephony providers.
