E Ink Corporation Expands Team with New Board Director, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Product Development

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- E Ink Corporation, the leading provider of electronic paper display technology, today announced the appointment of Stephen M. Ward to its Board of Directors; F. Paul Broyer as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Dr. Susan A. Visser as Vice President of Product Development.

Steve Ward - Board Director

Stephen M. Ward is the retired CEO of Lenovo, the international company formed by the merger of Lenovo of China and IBM's PC business. Ward serves on the board and chairs the Human Resource and compensation committee of Carpenter Technology, a specialty metals company, selling to the Medical and Aerospace industries, and E2open, a supply chain collaboration software and services company, where he is chair of the audit committee. He joins E Ink's Board of Directors and will serve on the audit committee.

Prior to joining Lenovo and acquiring IBM's PC business, Mr. Ward was the senior vice president and general manager of IBM's Personal Systems Group, responsible for IBM's Retail Store Solutions Division, IBM's Printing Systems Division, and IBM's Personal Computing Division. In his 26 years with IBM, he held a number of key product development, manufacturing management, and senior management positions, including leading the IBM ThinkPad product line. Mr. Ward also held positions as the leader of IBM's Worldwide sales for all Industrial, Electronics, Chemical, and Aerospace companies, and was chief information officer (CIO) of IBM. Mr. Ward holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic at San Luis Obispo.

F. Paul Broyer - Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Paul Broyer was most recently the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Candela, a publicly-traded laser manufacturer, where he led finance and administration for ten years during the company's turnaround and growth from $30 million to $150 million in sales. Earlier in his career, Mr. Broyer was Vice President of Finance at Integrated Genetics, an applied biotechnology firm, and held financial positions with Laserdata, Inc., a producer of document management and optical storage software, Avatar Technologies, a provider of high speed computer communications equipment, and Data General Corporation, a supplier of storage and enterprise computing solutions.

Dr. Susan Visser - Vice President of Product Development

Susan Visser will be responsible for all product development activities at E Ink, including working with development partners and customers to bring successful products to market. Dr. Visser brings over 15 years of direct technical and product development leadership experience from the Eastman Kodak Company to E Ink. She has eight years of hands-on R&D experience in materials science, where she worked on technologies of close relevance to E Ink's systems and obtained 27 patents worldwide. After promotion to Director, she moved into product commercialization leadership roles in Kodak's Health Group, driving release of products that generated over $100 million in new revenue. Additionally, she served as Chief Technologist for Kodak's New Ventures unit, moving 9 different technologies out of the labs and into operating units. Dr. Visser holds B.S. degrees in Chemical Engineering and in Biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. She also holds a M.B.A. from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester.
