DISASTER AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE TECHNOLOGIES ON DISPLAY AT FIRST “SILICON VALLEY SIMULATION DAY”

Free Event Showcases Wireless, Satellite, VoIP, and "Green" WiFi (News - Alert) Tech Designed for Catastrophes

Mountain View, CA (News - Alert) -- September 14, 2006 -- HumaniNet, in partnership TechReach International, will hold the first “Silicon Valley Simulation Day” to demonstrate new technologies that can help relief teams to communicate and manage information in a crisis.

The free event -- to be held on September 19, 2006 at the Intuit Campus at 2550 Garcia Road, Building #5, in Mountain View, CA -- will feature a simulated crisis scenario where engineers can test their equipment and skills to re-establish communications to help relief teams respond to crises.

Telenor Satellite Services is the event sponsor and will have on hand a variety of satellite communications systems that enable highly mobile voice, data, and broadband communications.

Silicon Valley Simulation Day attendees will also learn about TechReach International, an initiative to recruit and mobilize technology volunteers for supporting relief operations.

* Solar-mesh WiFi networks from nonprofit Green-WiFi (www.green-wifi.org)
* Tele-medicine technology for remote medical diagnosis

* Speakers on emergency response capacity building and volunteer action in support of emergency teams
* Networking opportunities for tech and operations managers, program officers, and other nonprofit leaders, and more.
