HP Extends Open Source Services to MySQL Software

SANTA CLARA, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- April 25, 2006 -- HP (NYSE:HPQ) (Nasdaq:HPQ) and MySQL AB today announced that HP will offer new services for MySQL(R) database software.

As part of an agreement, HP will provide consulting, integration and support services for customers implementing MySQL Network database software into their technology environments. HP and its channel partners also will resell MySQL Network subscription services. HP plans to sell the services directly beginning in May and via channel partners in June.

MySQL will train HP Services professionals on its products so HP can provide its MySQL Network customers with support.

As the latest addition to the HP Open Source Integrated Portfolio, the new offering strengthens HP's rich open source and Linux capabilities and broad information technology services.

The announcement was made at the annual MySQL Users Conference.

"HP is the only IT service provider that can serve as a single point of accountability for customers seeking to integrate and manage MySQL database software in an IT environment," said Dan Socci, vice president, worldwide marketing and sales, Technology Services, HP Services.

HP is incorporating MySQL into its new HP Open Source Middleware Stacks, which offers customers three different ways to deploy open source middleware on HP platforms. This flexibility helps customers reduce roll-out complexity and risk, accelerate solution deployment, and expedite the integration of multi-operating system environments.

"Combining HP Services with MySQL's popular database software will help more corporate enterprises attain the benefits of open source technology," said Marten Mickos, chief executive officer, MySQL AB. "For businesses, it means easier software integration, leveraging HP's vast global support network, and ultimately lowering overall IT costs, so they can focus on what matters most -- their customers."

MySQL Network is a comprehensive subscription offering that provides database developers and administrators with everything they need to successfully develop and deploy database solutions with MySQL. It includes access to certified MySQL software, updates and upgrades, proactive alerts, software advisors, the online MySQL knowledgebase, and full production-level technical support.

The HP Open Source Integrated Portfolio is designed to accelerate the adoption of open source software in data centers and provide customers with an easy way to deploy a wide range of open source, commercial and hybrid applications across Linux, Windows(R) and HP-UX 11i environments.
